Toyota 79 6WD in the Army?

Last week at Cahills Crossing (border between Arnhem Land and Kakadu) we saw 2 army 6 wheelers each with a set of fully kitted soldiers heading west.
I'm pretty sure they were 79s, but didn't know the Army had any ???

I saw a Perentie 6x6 crossing Cahill’s a couple of months ago. Didn’t see if driver was in the green, so may have been privately owned.

Not 6x6 but about 2 weeks ago, I saw a parked convoy of army vehicles (with soldiers) - one of the vehicles was a Perentie. I thought they had all been replaced.

No, doesn't look like a Merc. Will try for some photos - must start carrying my mobile rather than leaving it in the car as an instrument cluster.

I'm pretty sure North Force still use the Landys. They would be out that way. They also have the occasional 76s, but that's pretty rare.

Thanks Dave, I'm not completely losing it then - I'm sure they still have at least 2.
Was passed by a 6WD convoy just north of your old stamping ground (Tindal?) today as we slowly meander home, and they were definitely Mercs and different to the Arnhem Land ones.
