Tweaked cams, hi comp pistons, 36mm Trident carby's, cut down Norton Commando valves, she went like a scalded cat.
Still miss riding it a lot though.

I have a 2007 Sprint ST 1050, heaps of power and comes with panniers for shopping and touring.
Here's my 750 Tiger, was in pretty bad knick when I got it, had the square BSA style tank(from the Trident) took about 12mths to restore it.

I am definitely a fan. I have been looking at a new Thunderbird for a few years now. I bought a Husqvarna enduro bike this year and hopefully the Thunderbird next year. I am too old and stiff for sports bikes these days. I want a comfortable cruiser. For the price I don't think anything compares with it. I dont want built in Thailand though.
I am usually wearing a Triumph T-shirt. On the odd day that I am not I will have LR shirt on.
This is the best photo of it completely finished, I decided I would put the original tank and front guard back on, I also got some new mufflers from London Trading, I kept the American bullet tank though, just for cruising around town, 12mths after this I traded it in on a Laverda Jota 1000, I spent Xmas that year in hospital with a broken back, 2yrs later I bought a new Laverda RGS 1000;)

Exactly why Mick got rid of the Yamaha FZ1, his 'fun' bike, but getting too old for doing any distance on it, so he traded it on the 2012 Thunderbird 1600cc, put TOR short mufflers on, touring seats (front & rear), and a touring backrest for yours truly's comfort! Mick says she's reliable, fuel efficient, grunty & comfortable; the consumate cruiser, and best part is, after being a Harley owner years ago, when the cops realise it's a Triumph, they leave me alone! Other riders of Harleys, Victory's & Jap' Harley clones, after attempting to follow through twisties, are impressed, and have said that it's a really honest, all round motorcycle. [thumbsupbig]
