Worked with a bloke who had the LeMans MKIII, equiped with Conti pipes...
Although I associate Contis with Dukes this thing sounded superb!

Idle is marginal [emoji48] at around 104db
I've always found the noise useless at making people aware as they usually hear you once you've past them and they're behind you. I just like the noise on the track or in tunnels, drop it down a peg and go.
We have someone who lives along our rural road with a bike like that. He starts it up at about 4am, and lets it idle for a couple of minutes occasionally blipping the throttle, then goes howling down the road.
Loud pipes may not save his life if he carries on ****ing people off like that.
I agree, exhausts (car/bike/bus/truck/pushbike) should be loud enough to be heard but not wake the neighbours every time you go out. NOthing annoys me more then when you walk through a carpark and someone gets angry at you because you "walked out in front of them" while they are parked in their pansy new car that doesn't make any noise!
That is why I never take the bike when leaving early or planning to arrive home late.
I do it out of courtesy for the neighbours who all like the bike.
My direct neighbour is a semi-retired nurse that has a petrol head heart (use to race bikes and dirt circuit cars).
All the surrounding neighbours have Hardley Dangerous bikes...
Mines loud, but very very deep in its note - you feel it rather than hear it inside a house.. Like when neighbour is playing Xbox and the subs are turned up [emoji41]
