It’s 21 years old with 100,000KM on it so certainly due a spruce up. Hard to tell from the pics but the paint is badly faded on the tank, and it needs plenty doing to it. There is quite a bit of aluminium that the anodising had started to come off. I could stick some brakes and tyres on it and keep going but I haven’t ridden it in years and it’s no good as is and I like working on bikes and haven’t done so for quite a while. Given that it’s in a nice warm room now working on it in the evenings will be a comfortable way of doing things. 😊

G'Day Gav, it certainly doesn't look too bad to me, but I never judge anything from a color photo which can "hide" so much stuff, I've not had much experience with bikes, but I have with cars where I've seen color photos which make the subject item out to be more or less "showroom", whereas in the flesh it can be "a little bit" different.
Never owned a bike myself, but when I was about to get my license the "gun" bike was the Triumph Bonneville, 650cc, dual Amals, &....44BHP!
Do you remember the Triumph Thunderbird that Marlon Brando rode in "The Wild One"?....a great movie I thought!

Here's a few pics showing some closer shots of what it looks like. Once all the fairings are off, I'll take a bunch more. Basically it is showing its age and as it needs a RWC at some point when I get it registered, I might as well make it the best I can. I think in reality the only RWC failure points are brake discs front and back, seat ripped, throttle sticky, exhaust pipes. The last one could be interesting as I have to find a set of factory pipes for the roady... Guess I'll be scouring the wreckers but not sure what my chances of finding a set are. I may need to borrow some to get it back on the road...

    Some quite thin brakes.

This shows how badly the paint has faded on the top of the tank.

When new around 135HP @ around 9,000 RPM. Around 110 at the back wheel. Not sure how many ponies mines lost but it still goes fine. It’s pretty heavy at 270Kg wet weight but even with my fat arse on it, it’s a pretty quick point to point tourer and can eat up the miles in a hurray and is pretty comfortable compared to a sports bike. Not what you’d call a fast bike by any stretch but ample grunt when you get the revs up and it always made me smile like a lunatic when I did this. 😇

6 speed box makes for lazy RPM at highway speeds but this does mean changing down several gears if you want to get it to party. 6th is actually a bit too tall at legal speeds here in Australia and sitting on 100 I generally wouldn’t even pull top. At around 140 to 160 it cruises beautifully in top (apparently) 😇

One of the reasons I stopped riding it was because most people don’t seem to have much of a sense of humour about such things any more, so will have to think long and hard before I get back on it.

    My CBR1000F Restoration.

Looks like a great machine but seems a bit weird having the Stern name on it, but they're the only ones left so at least they are still doing their thing. Might have to see what I can land one for. My CBR1000F Restoration.. The second machine - Black Knight 2000 can be had for not too much these days, so maybe I need to make a set out of them...

Jeez, I'd think that 135bhp, at relatively low rpm compared to some modern bikes, would be plenty. I can quite imagine how that would put a smile on your face,...we have the same "smile" when we put the foot down in our GTSR, & hear & feel those 8 cylinders working!
