    My CBR1000F Restoration.

Well, to start with don’t get your hopes up of too many updates in the near future, but I have decided to keep my 1998 CBR1000F and get it back on the road in all it’s former glory! It has been languishing at the side of the house in the weather for many years slowly deteriorating and it was either sell it for almost nothing as a fixer up, or do just that myself then I’ll decide what is to happen with it later.

With the help of number 1 Son today, It made it to a nice dry area where I can begin the resto - into the front room of the house now I have that tidied up a bit. Still have a few things to put away but it will be my ‘man cave’ with just a few things in it - my Pinball machine, Dads old wing back chair, my 1980’s stereo and my bike. Who knows, when it’s done, I might knock the front window out of the house and put a sliding door there so I can use the front room as a permanent bike garage and have easy access in and out to go riding. 👍

So a couple of pics to start with. Plenty needs doing, the pics don’t show how bad it is but all new paint and decals, seat, all the steering headstock, etc needs re anodising, new brakes, tyres, etc and a good clean up. Might even stick a new timing chain in it as it’s got the obligatory chain rattle when cold although this doesn’t effect performance too much. It has just under 100,000KM on it.

Nice. They are a decent machine.

Is the plan a true restoration or an enhanced build?

True resto. I don’t need any more power and I like the way it looks, so it will just be the best example of the model I can make it. 👍

It’s not diabolical by any means. It still starts and runs fine, as Pedro says, these inline Honda 4’s go forever. Just needs a lot of TLC so will start at the bottom and work my way up.

Ok, already off topic but happy to oblige as I’m the king of going off topic. 👍. 1981 Williams ‘Black Knight’. A big leap forward back in the day and was the first machine with synthesised voice and the first machine introduced with ‘Magna Save’ feature. Multi level, multi ball machine. Still works although has some bugs that need ironing out - mostly power supply and switch matrix issues. All fixable and just something else for my ‘to do’ list. Have had it nearly 30 years. When I played it a lot, I could keep a game going almost indefinitely. I usually gave up of boredom after an hour or so, I could clock it almost every time I stepped up to it, but I still love it after all these years. Other things have come and gone but my pinny is still there. 👍

That bike it a bit modern to be doing a resto on, or am I getting old. Looking through some pictures & saw my old 750FD BolDor which sold the weekend after the Trading Post came out , when I decided to give bikes up after falling over with my wife on as pillion. Not my fault , a contact lens fell out & I'm blind in the other eye. The Trading post was a good read !
