Camelback, small energy snacks are a must, make sure the bike is in tip top condition, hook up with someone of the same ability if he can, take warm clothes, trust me, it gets very cold in the Victorian High Country, especially at night, we've camped in the snow a few times, one trip it snowed Xmas day.

This was us heading to the MotoGP in October 2019, via the Vic High Country.

We are heading to Dargo from Swifts Creek, 15ks down the road it was fine and sunny[biggrin]

Thanks for the advice. He has a 'Camel' and various other items. The bike was updated when bought, with aftermarket bash protection, side covers, storage etc. He also has
a motza worth of correct apparel. I'm sure his missus isn't aware of the expense of the sundries! One thing with the trip is that there are two categories. Experienced and not so! He'll obviously be in the former cat, so will be with similar riders. All on similar motorcycles, too, which may level the playing field a bit. (There's always that one hero though, ay!)
My younger brother errs on the side of caution a lot more than I did at his age. [bighmmm]

Sounds like he's got it sorted, he'll have a ball, it's such a great place to visit, we used to go there almost every year, mainly around Xmas time, usually a different spot each trip..

We would camp at elevation to get away from the crouds and heat, most of the bike tours in the Vic High Country are at elevation, because that's where the best tracks are.

The ones we have come across over the years, are very well run.

Good that he's careful, as the only advice I can offer to anyone planning a motorcycle trip is to have blood transfusions and organ donors standing by.

I had a Honda CB400N when I was younger and had friends with bikes, unfortunately one had his hand amputated after a bike crash. A colleague had to retire early after he broke his leg, hip, ribs and arm.
