Start a new thread John - if you don't mind of course - detailing previous rallies and your preparation for the upcoming one...would make great reading and viewing.

Those dune pics are a reminder of the safari and seeing all the japanese entrants trying to push there roosting dr350s and dr250s etc up these dunes in the simpson / mt dare stage. Inadequate fuel loads and insufficient water had most of them out. We were overtaken by the Elefant at one poiint (We were in a Rangerover) and where evryone ELSE was off there bikes and pushing, Alan had his machine wound up and roosting, in the saddle, blasting that heavy rig up and over. You'd certainly want to be 6'5" and 120Kg to ride one of these like that in those conditions Made it look like he was on a much smaller bike.

What an experience that event was, one of the most exciting times I've had.

This is my MV Agusta F4. Beautiful to ride and even just to sit and look at. I think it's gonna be a keeper even if another ride comes along!

This is what I sold to do the deposit on my Defender. The Defender's better, but I really miss the solitude and escapism of getting on the bike and disappearing for a tank of fuel out and then returning.

And then this is what I traded in when I started married life. Doesn't fit the thread, but it did have two wheels.

Shuttleworth 64. Kevlar and carbon fibre 64' long with a beam of 37'.

I both love and hate this thread. I really miss having a bike.

A mate has a Triumph Thruxton (I'm sure I mentioned that somewhere but anyway) it's gradually being flashed up with some very nice custom exhausts and other bits and pieces.

It's making me super "antsy" for another bike, but between LR and shooting I am poor enbough already.

Add that to a not very understanding wife (when it comes to motorbikes) and I've got buckleys
