A question for you modern diesel techs out there.
I am sick and tired of having to run my cruze for 40 mins every few weeks when the DPF light comes on. It's the most annoying thing about the car. And at $3700 to replace it if I don't run the burn cycle means that it has to be done.
So, can I
1. Remove the DPF and get a new down pipe made up and just disconnect the sensors, or
2. Remove the guts of the DPF and weld in a pipe like we used to do to the cats therefore leaving the sensors in place but doing nothing.
What will the effects on the engine management system be?
Please don't comment on the illegalities of this, I'm aware it's not 'encouraged' I'm just interested in the technical ramifications.

Cheers all
