The problem is more to do with Toyota NAs usually being IDI. The flame front is concentrated on one part of the piston crown and leads to cracking etc. Being DI the Isuzu largely avoids this problem.

Thanks for the ideas. Justin I'll give you a call - are afternoons a better time?

    not so much.

there are tougher bits that go into the -T but you can stick 15psi + fueling to match onto the stock 4bd1 but you have to drive the pedal to the smoke as the pumps not configured correctly for that kind of work.

-t internals... you could push 30psi... and then you can go to the proper not messing around stuff like some nutter in yank land has done with something like 3 turbos and 60 psi.

Ive just refurbished my engine and after 750k it had 2 cracked pistons and 1 set of broken top rings in number 1. At 450k i turboed it and mistakenly thought it had alfin turbo pistons being a 1988 build. So i gave it 15psi and regularly saw 650 egts so i was surprised to see the NA pistons had lasted that long!!! The 4bd1 is in a different league to most other engines. 😎😎

I'm lead to believe they modeled it after Chuck Norris's heart.

Four months in with this car and I'm in two minds whether to turbo or not. I've put 285/75 Mickey Ts on it and that has blunted the performance a bit. It is just accelerating from a start I find it lacking as once underway it seems to have a good spread of torque at any speed/rpm. It is pulling flat 12L/100km too pretty consistently which is good as I expected worse.

Don't be greedy and you'll see some decent kms out of them. If you want to chat about it gimme a pm or call 0408995635.

I still have every intention of giving you a call Justin, just waiting until the tax return comes in before I get ideas. I've checked out a few of the kits and I have to agree, the Denco one looks to be the best engineered and the turbo itself has a good reputation.

Essentially you're buying God in engine form, any wrecks with an FTE are priced accordingly
