Old Ford tractor instrument voltage stabiliser

I'm refurbishing the instrument cluster on my old Ford 4100 and the instrument voltage stabiliser is cactus, the same voltage stabiliser was apparently used for decades on lots of Ford products. I read somewhere that there is a solid-state replacement available that will mount in the same place- I haven't been able to find anything in online searching, wondering if anyone can point me to the appropriate part number or a source to obtain one?

From a quick look-see you appear to have a 10V stabiliser same as early Land Rover with Smiths gauges. There's an electronic one here:

Electronic instrument voltage stabiliser – 10 volt for classic cars (as BR13xx) | eBay

or you can go to a Jaycar store and buy a #7810 3 pin regulator IC for around $1 and mount it to a suitable small heat sink and solder some leads to it.

They're actually a 5v stabiliser, which surprised me a bit. I gave the instruments 12v briefly whilst I was testing it and the smoke started to escape. The IC unit I saw looked externally identical to the original, just can't seem to find where I saw it online.

There is a 5V type too, #7805, I bought a dozen once for a few cents a piece. Ebay shows one done up ready to fit:

Fitted up the eBay DC-DC 12v to 5v converter, works like a charm and even mounted to the same screw holes on the cluster casing.
