I had maxxis tyres on my red 110
At about 10 years old 50% tread the drivers side rear sidewalk cracked as I was driving, strange I thought but chuck on the spare from the bonnet and away we go. Picked up a second hand bfg for a spare
Started heading down south a month later, splits in the front drivers side wall
Chucked on the bfg and turned for home
As we pulled into the street the bonnet spare had same issue
All three had more sun than the passenger side tyres
Apparently it’s the uv that breaks down the rubber
1985 110 Dual Cab 4.6 R380 ARB Lockers (currently NIS due to roof kissing road)
    1985 110 Station Wagon 3.5 LT85 (unmolested blank canvas)

That and ambient temperature. Friend from high school works in Saudi, has a patrol and a Porsche.
Average ambient temperature for the year is above 45, he can't get his tyres to last more than 3 years.

    Cheers Glen.

    Belts are the same.
Keep them in a workshop, out of the sun, they degrade quite quickly.

My father, when possible, always kept the Series1 spare tyre in the rear of the vehicle,to lengthen its life.
