Cant see the set up for the read out of the weight of each corner being too accurate. That is if it isn't damaged by a stick or something,it looks very vulnerable where it is positioned.

Leaf springs usually sag, particularly if the vehicle carries a fair bit of weight, which it is designed to,so that will throw out the accuracy pretty quickly. The gradual sagging happens on our own work utes.

Oh and the "new" DPF button, give me a break, yota has had that for over 10yrs,way before they had all the DPF issues, and it is still in their latest diesel models.

Same old TDV6,which is still having issues, many the same it has had for over 20yrs.

Hopefully they have sorted the gearbox issues once and for all.

They would have to show that that V6 is sorted for me. And, generally, the electronics are sorted being a Ford. but, if wonders never cease and it is reliable, the specs are impressive as is the chassis build. Cheers

A mate has one on order - picks it up in December.

He does some pretty serious tracks - so I will be paying very close attention to it.

I think Ford will have an absolute winner with the SD
people are saying it’s under powered because they detuned it to comply with the latest emissions regulations but it still has more power and torque than any other commercial Ute on the market other than American utes
it is the only Ute in the market that doesn’t need a heap of mods which devoid any warranty like other options
Discovery 1 4.6, true trac front and rear, superior engineering arms, old tourer now bush toy
Discovery 4 3.0 HSE MY13 ECB Bull bar, winch, spot lights, aux fuel tank, Kaymar rear bar, duel wheel carriers, 18 tuff ant wheels 265/65/18 BFG KO2's for play

Yes, well the V6 is a 3.0, rather than the 3.2. It is detuned, but has heaps of torque. The cooling system is bigger. The auto is a 10 speed. Most of the troubles the Ranger had was with the early 6 speed. Early 10R60s wee recalled for pump issues. Can't imagine they won't have sorted that. Not sure, but I believe the SD has the 10R80, which is a much higher torque capable trans. Hope I'm right. After all, they addressed the torque stuff even down to the engine mounts.

The emphasis on the "manual DPF burn" came from a journo. Rangers and Effies have also done it for years, like Toyota, Difference is, with the ford you can do it with the engine running. Maybe yotas do that too now.

Ford has a lot riding on this. Seven years of R&D. Aussie engineering. I reckon we could reserve judgement till the early production bugs get ironed out, and the things are out in the real world.

I think it would be a great vehicle if it had a different engine, gearbox and electricals. I'd love to love it.
    Cheers

My mate has some Rangers at work, and he says the 10 speed can hunt around trying to find the right ratio. I've seen car reviews say the same thing about 10 speed boxes IIRC the only one they liked was the Toyota Tundra.
