    What the SD does do is dodges NVES,so they can sell as many as they want and won't be affected by the emissions crap rules.
    Which will help the manufacturer,particularly as their main seller is the Ranger,which is not that great emissions wise,as the biggest seller is the old TDV6.

    Yes i laugh when i see headlines that it is a game changer as well.

    Same when a manufacturer comes out and says this new engine now has a timing chain(replacing a wet belt) and different injectors so it is more robust....

    Owning up to the fact the WB was a disaster,which it was.
    Stop spoiling a good story with facts

    Done to try to increase reliability and longevity,which manufacturers have been doing for decades on some commercial models.

    The SD is dragging a lot more weight around even empty, than a standard Ranger.

    The very latest Hi Ace is still like that,the 1GR has less power and torque than the same engine in other models such as Hi Lux,Prado,etc,they did the same with the 1 KD.
    Agreed. My guess is the Ford Australia Engineers are nervous about this engine but really have no other choice for a diesel. They are definitely taking a leaf out of the Toyota book for how to achieve reliability.

    The F-150 with the 3.0 TDV6 wasn’t very popular and wasn’t seen as being good for towing (despite having the higher power rating).

    The 3.5L twin-turbo V6 Petrol would be a good alternative for the recreational market. More power and more torque.

    I wish Ford success with the Ranger Super Duty and hope they do look to bring out a “hero” truck with decent power and torque for the recreational market.
