    Mercedes om611 in s3?

Hey All, ive had thoughts about this for a while now. I've got 2 Mercedes 638 vitos 112cdis behind the shed, 1 hope to get back on the road one day when I can find this damn air leak and put a manual box in it..and the other is for the doner for the box. The doner has the engine in the back as it's from a different van, so it's already been a double doner lol. Anyway I was told the engine still runs it's clearly got the black death, so it needs new injectors and all that but if I do the conversion I'd probably part rebuild it anyway.
Ive read about people using other om family engines so it's gotta be similar. It would be going into my s3 which is a 6cyl build. My main concerns are obviously mating it to the series gearbox. But the other thing I'm concerned about it's not MFP and all the electrics just ain't gonna happen. So I gotta do a MFP conversion also.
Anyone out there done the OM conversion before?
I'm sorta dreaming with it but hey I've got the engine sitting there so If it's possible I may look at doing it.
    Cheers Jim

Which end of the donk is the sump bump? Forwards and it'll be clobbered by the diff.

TBH I'm not sure I havnt sussed it out but it was one of my concerns. I've read about people making new sumps for the other vairiants. This engine is only the 4 cyl but it still puts out plenty of power, probably perfect for the s3 running gear. Another concern is that it was east west mounted but in the newer vitos it's forward facing so should be a way around it. My 1st thing is calling damler benz or searching through my star workshop program and finding a different fuel pump to do away with the common rail. If that's all doable I'll look at doing it, if not well maybe I'll sell the engine, turbo and bits I don't need for my other van and buy an older om 6cyl or perkins 6cyl.
    Hmmmm

Ask at Dieselmeken about a mechanical pump. He can build one out of an electronic on for the OM606 and others, so might get lucky.

check out his youtube clips for evidence of his expertise.

Thank you very much I'll definitely ask them. It's all a bit of a dream like I said but it could be a reality. Anything is doable if you got the spendiff to throw at it!
