Just got a 97 Autobiography, few questions..

Hi everyone, finally got another Land Rover again... Picked up a 97 Autobiography wholesale yesterday and have a few questions.

I have a power steering noise when i turn the wheel to the left and back. Sounds hydraulic rather than metallic. Any common faults to look for first?

Where is the best place to pick up a new CD changer cassette?

The climate control works, however occasionally the fault light comes on. Anyone on the north side of Sydney with a code reader or any ideas on where to get one or how to build one?

Finally, the ABS plastic pistons. Can you still buy the stainless ones and rebuild them?

Thanks to all in advance! Why do we love these things?!

If your steering is not leaking and just a bit noisy I have had good results in the past using Lucas power steering additive, worth a try for a few $. The Brake modulator fix can be found at the below link and there is a thread to emphasise the need to change it a few down from this...a timely reminder

look on the Hard range Australia site for the brake fix. i just finished it on mine thursday, its a hell of a job. the kit was $110 and was very quick to arrive, and the instructions that come on the cd with the kit were a godsend.

    good luck with the fix

No e-mail recieved at Hard Range yet or did you mean Russell? Either way, one of us can send you a BMR kit.

    Cheers, Paul.

Autobiography hey? Nice work! I like their look with extra paint here and there... even thinking of copying some of that (like I think on mirrors and lower bumper!?!). Any photo's to share?

Oh yeah, with your A.C.-HEVAC Fault, I would:

    - replace pollen filters and plenum foam,
    - check heater relays/fuses under bonnet for burn out,

and then go for a plug in.

Thanks heaps, thought it may be filter and i pulled them out out check, full of leaves and crap! think its been years... Ill check the relays and fuses although all seems normal.

Yeh i had an HSE 5 years ago but had to sell it as i do around 30k a year and well... Now though i have a cheap to run daily driver and this Autobiography seemed too good to pass up.

Dont think so. This one was a Sydney car. Original owner was actually Rover Australia head office.

Replaced pollen filters and RL7. Still have book symbol coming up occasionally. Hmm...

CD changer was easy, $60 delivered from Clarion australia.
