Heater core temp sensor

I plugged the Faultmate in to check my hevac, (2001 HSE 4.6) I have 2 faults.
(9)The Left hand blend motor short circuit to ground, which I'm pretty certain means replace the blend motor.
The other fault is (50) Heater Core Temp Sensor circuit short to ground.
I'm assuming the Heater Core Temp Sensor needs replacing as well.

I read about replacing the blend motor on the rangerovers.net site, sound like a bit of mucking around, but I'll have a crack at that one.

I can't find much info about the Heater Core Temp Sensor though.
Has anyone replaced that and was there much to it?
I figure if I have to go in there anyway to do the belnd motor, I will do that at the same time.

It's a common failure item. I've replaced mine twice. It clips onto the heater pipes. See pics of mine here: Heater Core O-Ring Replacement

It's a bugger to replace.

there is also a extra lead that can be fitted to fix the ac shutting down in hot weather, i think it was YMQ101050 or YMQ501010 but not certain. you can also help the situation by fitting the new temp sensor to the top heater pipe as it is slightly cooler and out of way of the dripping coolant.

It's clipped onto the heater pipes just behind the O-ring junction at the heater. The problem is getting the clip back on.

It's easy to remove but you need to be a bit of a contortionist if coming from below. It might be easier from the top after you remove the binnacle to do the blend motor.

Where does this lead go? My AC compressor shuts down often, gas is fine, connectors all ok and no faults in the HEVAC show on faultmate...

Does your car have/need the aircon link harness upgrade? I had to do it to my '95 model (mine already had the alternator link harness modification).

Have you checked the magnetic clutch air gap? I eventually had to machine my clutch down to reduce the air gap. I had already removed the clutch shim.
