Suppose I better get it settled into the portable cradle and start some serious planning for build of my Junosi Discreet Winch Mount!!!
Might try to make an informal "Melbourne P38 gathering" around this one, anyone interested in a few beers, a chat, and doing some minor car maintenance jobs in my sloping carport some time over the next few months?
yep, I haven't been down that way in weeks ;)
Might even get my Warn XD winch fitted before then, or bring it down and do it there.

I just bought one. It was reduced from $79 to $49. However with the shipping and handling charges, it was $75.

If it was to be deployed in the rear tow hitch for some reason, am wondering about how to power it... a couple of very heavy gauge cables (#0 or #2 ) I suppose from the main battery or a 100+ AH deep cell in the load compartment...?
Allan, those are my dilemmas, too. I have an AGM in the wheel well but I'm not sure that it's suitable for winching.
Also, even with heavy cabling, how does one make a heavy duty, quick release, power connector?
Can solve the HD connectors: either Dinse or JB type welding cable connectors should do it... 300amp or 500 amp twist lock/quick release. To power it for short bursts, was thinking about the SSB HVT AGM Deep Cycle 12V 130AH battery 31 size dry cell which is supposedly good for 1000 CCA.
Still a lot to carry around for 'just in case'.
Am thinking of using my winch for a small crane to get garden rubbish etc stuff from the back yard to the top deck of the house (= street level):eek: it's about a 7m drop...;)
