Dreaded loose liner, would you go 5 liter?

Yes I’m all for preserving (and improving) these vehicles instead of simply disregarding them when things occasionally happen to go wrong.

In TVR usage V8Developments latest 5.5 RV8 engines are getting around 400 hp and 438 ftlb of torque, with TVR 500 heads.

With a high torque 4x4 cam and some appropriate head work you should have a very powerful Rangie.

Q - Sydr - ......but I resent the thought of simply chucking a perfectly good vehicle out, and then going thru the same depreciation that I've already enjoyed (Not). Expensive as the new engine may be, it is markedly less than the depreciation for the first 3 months.

My thinking is that a newish Range Rover will cost a mile more money, and yet only provide 10 yards more value than what I've got.

You guys are mirroring my thoughts exactly. A couple of years ago the Ford dealer service guy talked me into getting rid of my immaculate, totally reliable and unbeatablly comfortable Fairlane when it had a blend door problem. A lot of dollars changed hands for another Ford and the new one [not a Fairlane because they don't make them any more] is not anywhere near the car I had.
