That's really good value. I paid $600 which included all materials, and also included covering the plastic upright trims - which I was advised were a pig to clean - and included the sunroof. All looks v nice now, as a RR should.Quote:

WOW :D Now that looks pretty good and I quite fancy doing something similar to mine rather than replacing it with the nondescript colour that's currently there. I have a grey leather interior, so I'm thinking slate grey with the lighter trim.
Glue seems pretty straightforward with 3M 8090 adhesive. I used to use a lot of spray on glue in my early ad. agency days, so am familiar with the product. Does anyone have any experience with this glue that they'd like to share?
In getting the new headlining to bond, using a cooking technique for piecrusts, I'd have a bag full of chickpeas to weigh down thhe fabric as it sets on the roof mould.
I'm also thinking I can make some curtains similar to the W126 Mercedes in the same fabric for the rear passenger area - on second thoughts, that might be a bit girly for a P38 :banban:
I've also had a look around to re-flock (will I get away with this word) the vertical trim and there's loads of options out there. Lots of US hobbyshops and car custom websites carry stock and colours at not a lot of money.
Definitely up for having a go myself, the question I have; where do I source the headlining fabric?

I removed mine and had my trimmer glue it up for me. Cost $100 or there abouts including the sun roof. Had it done the same as the pics above, black lining, cream trim. Apparently my trimmer says the problem with Range Rover roof lining material is that it's wider than the standard width rolls of material, so you need to buy the extra wide stuff. He had some black laying around in extra wide so I was all good.

I did mine myself on my classic Rangie a few years ago, it came up like brand new.
I just took my time and did it slowly over a day.
I can't see the P38 being a whole lot different.
I was able to find the exact same headlining material in the same colour as original and also purchased the proper 3M spray adhesive.
There will be instructions if you have a look around, I'm sure someone has done it before.
OK, I have just done most of it myself.
2hrs to pull it all out. I dropped the sunroof onto the headrests, thus avoiding disconecting the drain pipe zip ties, and as I did it all myself, I figured the sunroof may be a tad heavy to completely remove. (the trimmer told me that he just removes the glass and bends it in...)
$220 at the trim shop, did it in a day. (he does the headlings for the local LR guy aswell)
about 2 hrs to reinstate and I am more than happy with the result.
Hints:
Anyway, easy done!
- Take your time, try not to force anything otherwise you may break the odd little clip, or the little lever that you adjust the seatbelt height with:angel:
- Getting the sunroof clips back in place is a little fiddly, just getting the sunroof panel back in took 40 minutes (including bolting the sunroof back on.)
- Put everything in a bucket so you don't loose anything, infact, I have to plactic plugs left over?
Be aware that it's easy to break the sunroof clips:
