    Bosch engine into Gems p38??

Ok.. Not having a good run with my P38.. The engine commited suicide tonight..

I am going to need another motor & I may be able to get hold of a low K's Bosch motor..

How much stuffing around is there to fit on of these into a 95 Gems P38?

Would also consider a 5.7 or 6.0 chevy conversion.. Would like more info on this though.. Computers / Trans etc

If you are in/near Sydney, you may like to evaluate the 5.4L engine that I hope to have shipped from the UK in 2 weeks' time for my car. It is currently being built and will be with Top Hat liners, hi comp pistons, forged crank, special con rods, cam, heads worked to stage 3 with a Tornado chip and lots of good stuff. Should be pretty bullet proof with the attraction of being 'plug and play'. I chose this option after lots of reading and useful input from members of this forum and the UK forum.

Long motors are interchangeable. The crank angle sensor mount will have to be used off your old engine, but that's it. You can even use the Bosch alloy sump. It's just the bolt ons and top end that are different.

Simple and easy swap can be done in a day.

Has been losing a bit of water since I got it about 2 months ago which I was putting down to heater O rings which needed replacing.
It was also devoloping a slight missfire at idle when sitting at a set of lights for example and I thought then that it may have done either a head gasket, a head or maybe even dropped a liner.
& last night while driving around in 17 deg temperature, it got hot and when I topped it up with water it was just blowing it straight back out of the header tank & I knew then it was cactus.
I filled it with water this morning while it was cold and started it & could see straight away it was bubbling through the header tank & after about 4 - 5 minutes idling in my shed, it had blown half of the water out of the header tank and the other half out of the exhaust..

So you have got a blown head gasket, pull the heads and fix, why do you think the motor is rat****, is there something else wrong, Regards Frank.

I just assumed it may have dropped a liner.
It started to ping a bit when it all happened..

I suppose I should pull the heads off and have a look.

If it was my money, I would rather tear it down and take a look at the head gasket than start arranging to replace with another motor.

For the sake of a day's labour and $100 on a top end rebuild kit, I would have thought it worthwhile
