    Potentially dumb questions...

OK, I'm a P38 Noob. Let's move on to the dumb question...

When I am at Standard height and I want to lower to Motorway height, the EAS goes straight for Access height. I can stop that from happening by using the Inhibit switch.

    Why!?

Also, my lazy unlock doesn't seem to work. I'm disappointed - unless it's an ID10T error....

Also, I put a really nice aranthacite (sp?) switch gear surround in tonight. Range Rovers are easy to work on.

This is the one I bought.

When you are driving or when you are stopped?

Because they were built that way

If you move off when the vehicle is in Access height, it will move to Normal once you exceed a preset speed (cannot remember how fast but it's in the Owners Manual).

So it makes no sense for you to be able to set Access when you are moving.

I don't think it should do that. Pretty sure it should be going to highway when moving and over ride switch is off NOT access. I understand that you still need to be within the parameters of the EAS's programming- logic (I.e. travelling at the right speed). Also pretty sure it should not be possible to select access at all when vehicle is in motion. The only way to move in access height is to select crawl mode (for low carparks etc) which will still disengage automatically if you go over 10kph (or something low like that).

Have a look at your owners manual, if it's not behaving as that outlines, I would say you need to plug into a decent diagnostic tool and see if any relevant EAS or sensor faults exist.

Sounds like you might have an original P38 problem... I haven't heard of that one before!

I think it's at speeds of around 35 km when access goes to normal, then over 80 km/h after 30 seconds going to highway mode.

I can be doing 50km/h and the thing will try to go to Access from Standard. I realised what it was doing and had to quickly tap the UP button.

Hmm. Maybe the EAS isn't sure of the speed I'm going. Although it changes to Motorway height automatically perfectly correctly. On second thoughts, maybe that's not it.

Inhibit switch simply cancels the automatic functions ->fully manual

When inhibit switch is not depressed:

    access < - > normal < - > high

The vehicle will not normally allow you to select Access height while moving but you can 'manoeuvre' the vehicle at walking speed e.g. when in low clearance situations. As soon as you exceed about 7kph it will rise to normal.

If the inhibit switch is depressed, then you can manually select all heights (except "extended high")
    hope this helps

    check the "owner's manual"

IIRC it's over 3 minutes exceeding 80km/h from Normal to Highway mode automatically.
