Hi Bruce, I've had the faultmate extreme MSV-2 for a couple of years now, it has proven to be very handy for me.
I have not used the nanocom, so I can't comment on that one.
I only need it every so often, but it's a very handy thing to have when you do need to see what's going on.
The faultmate is very easy to use, just the set up was a bit fiddly with licencing and modules, but once you get past that, it's a snap to hook up in stand alone mode and read/ clear any fault codes.
It has brought a few faults to my attention that I would have never known about otherwise.
I would recommend owning one if you like to do your own maintenence, or even if you just like to know what's going on with your P38 before taking it to a mechanic.
