Faultmate ????

Hi Bruce, I've had the faultmate extreme MSV-2 for a couple of years now, it has proven to be very handy for me.
I have not used the nanocom, so I can't comment on that one.
I only need it every so often, but it's a very handy thing to have when you do need to see what's going on.
The faultmate is very easy to use, just the set up was a bit fiddly with licencing and modules, but once you get past that, it's a snap to hook up in stand alone mode and read/ clear any fault codes.
It has brought a few faults to my attention that I would have never known about otherwise.
I would recommend owning one if you like to do your own maintenence, or even if you just like to know what's going on with your P38 before taking it to a mechanic.

I second that... bought one through Hardy back in 2007. software updates are free. All modules for every vehicle are in the 'black box' ...the relevant licence unlocks specific ones for your particular vehicle VIN... so if you update/change LRs, "BBS Colin" will, for a fee, provide new codes which you download and you're "on your way", so to speak ...

Beware the conditions of the discount... think it is documented over in the Diagnostics forum.
Conditions to qualify for the discount were along the lines of:
- being your first purchase from BBS
- being a paid member of the forum
- having posted more than 50 posts or being a member for more than a year
... something like that, don't remember exactly. Being a member of the forum didn't automatically entitle you to a discount.

Given it's quite a generous discount, I can't blame BBS for making sure it is genuine members who get access to it. As soon as I have saved up my pennies, I shall be calling....!
