Thread: Faultmate ????

there's an option of getting a faultmate or a nanocom.. both are nowfrom the same stable "Blackbox Solutions". Have a read of the earlier posts in the Diagnostics part of the forum to get an idea of what you might want. Gooogle Black Box Solutions Faultmate it's all there...

I still believe that almost all engine troubles can be investigated/resolved with a good OBDII scanner (either an ebay handheld, or Kiwi BT adaptor plus Torque app on android). Try this first.

If you are having problems with other systems like EAS, ABS, CC, GBOX, etc then one of the angrier tools will be required. Of course, since I have bought a faultmate extreme, I have never really used it. Had I not, I would have needed it every weekend.

I believe that these days the Nanocom is better value for money, although I also have both FaultMate and Nanocom.

Ive have looked at diagnostic forums and come to the conclusion that the fault mate / nano com seems to be the unit of choice not to mention a steep learning curve by yours truly . Does anyone know if there available in Australia as the Hardrange Team no longer sell them

Is the hawkeye any good?

I've got a faultmate msv-2, ordered it direct from cypress (from BBS themselves). Highly recommended, but I've never used a nanocom either...

There was a guy in Melb selling FaultMates a few years ago. When I was still selling the FaultMate, I used to get calls from people frustrated trying to contact him. Drove a lot of business my way for a while... sorta helps when you answer the phone and emails

AFAIK there is no one else in Oz selling them any more.

One of the reasons I stopped selling the FaultMate is because the P38 modules for Nanocom were released in early 2012. It wasn't really cost effective for me to buy and sell the Nanocom as my distributor discount, import duties and GST overhead meant they were significantly more expensive landed in Oz.

My tip when ordering from BBS in Cyprus - select EMS Postage rather than DHL. It is cheaper and still usually arrives here in a week or so.

As stated previously, I am a big fan of the FaultMate and Nancomom... I have both.
The differences?:
FaultMate can be licensed for most types of Landies. Usual licence is single-VIN. Multi-vehicle licenses are expensive. Really requires a PC/Laptop to access most functions.
Nancom only works on P38, Disco 2 and Defender. Is multi-vehicle within vehicle type (i.e. P38 GEMS, P38 Motronic/Thor, or P38 Diesel). Touch screen does not need a PC/laptop.

Sam - Hawkeye? Don't bother... I have a couple of mates here in Canberra with Hawkeye's and they come around to use my Nanocom instead a lot of the time

except how much they are. Ill call BBS and see .
Im an artistic type who's good with the visual side of life, colours, proportion ect ( thats why I like p38as ) so Im lousy at tech stuff, though you have to be a bit owning a RR The help you people offer is just fantastic and greatly appreciated. Good luck to you and your kind spirit !!!!
