Glad to hear you fixed it. I have same symptoms as you and took the top off the compressor. Everything in the top part that houses the bushes behind the plate they sit on is all loose. The ring and end seat for the motor shaft is not secured at all. How do you get to that. Does the plate lever out?

Just undo the bolts, tap the plate off, remove the plate, and brush holder as one bit.
Drill out the 'rivets' throw away the white nylon ring. Reset and restake the bush, drill the base for some replacement mini bolts and put it all back together.

HINT. To get the brushes over the commutator, tie some fishing line around the brushes to hold them in until you can get them over the commutator, then cut it and pull it out of the way.

    Regards
    Trev

Doesn't make sense to me that the compressor works with the software but not under normal op. If the problems is the bushes on the compressor I would think it wouldn't work under the software either.

Exactly what I thought, but the explanation I've heard is that the bush wobbles such that it shorts the temp sensor so that the ECU won't let the compressor run.

In any event, it has worked!

Looks like I may have other problems as when I pump up the system via the software and then select a height, my front airbags are not getting any air and remain in a single position. The back will change but cant get the front to alter heights. I think its time for another valve block o ring adventure to see if I have a stuck solenoid and if so maybe the cause of the other problems.
