the setup technique is the same, Different pinion height block used to establish pinion height from memory...
You could always go the tried and true trial and error method till you get a nice contact patch.
Im getting things ready to put the locker in, and I'd like to put new bearings in, but nowhere on rave is the setup for the pinion bearings... not sure if it's the same as the classic diff as they've different bearing part numbers.
The side bearings I'll setup with the same backlash, but not sure if the p38 diff has shims, though I suppose I could measure the end flot of the pinion.
Has anyone else done this?

When I put the locker on mine we used a donor diff that was good but noisy. The diff was completely stripped and new bearings fitted. Two on the pinion ( Yes Two ) and the two carrier bearings.
The Pinion bearings used shims for tolerance. Shims impossible to find.
The Pinion Bearings were also very hard to get, had to get them from the UK and not cheap. I would leave the pinion end well alone if you can.
In the two classic diffs I've done I haven't touched the pinion bearings , but there's a bit of a bearing type noise in the diff thats related to prop speed (universal joints checked out fine, though ive got new hardey spicer ones to go in). I dont think its the pinion gear as there's no facing material in the oil.
Glad to know there's shims in there, thanks.
