    Fuse panel

I am trying to track down a battery drain, does anybody have a listing of the fuses under the passenger seat. I didnt get a owners manual from the PO and I am unable to identify any of the fuses under the seat.

No...no additional accessories plugged in, only real symptom is on first start up in the morning my "gear box overheat" flashes/beeps until I drive for about 5-8 minutes and then goes away until next morning. During the 5-8 minutes if I use anything electric, horn, flashers lights I also get the beep. Think I read somewhere that this is the first sign of a low battery

Normally it's the Gearbox Fault alarm that will let you know of a low battery. I've not seen any other gearbox alarms due to low voltage. Perhaps a temp sensor on the transmission is playing up or a bad earth on your P38?

    Hi

This is the procedure you need to follow for a thorough check of the electrics

Do you only get the message after a humid/wet night?

Its very cold now in NY but I notice this probably about 2 weeks ago. This morning I checked carefully and notice the alarm came on once the key was turned to position 1, even before starting. Still starts fine as it have a new/good battery (optima yellow) but I still feel there is a voltage drop somewhere. The procedures sent in the previous post is good but I would like to try the old fashioned method of pulling fuses by fuse with a multimeter to try and identify the source of the drain. So can anybody furnish the fuse listing for the panel under the passenger seat

You can download the owners manual from the Range Rovers P38 Owners facebook page.

I'm just not sure that battery drain is your problem. When I've had abs fault and once an eas fault from a low battery, the motor has turned over noticeably slower.

You can check for drain by taking the fuses out and measuring current draw with a multimeter, and also check the becm is going into sleep mode by seeing wether the led next to the park position by the gear lever goes out after a few minutes with ignition off and all doors closed.

The transmission temp signal goes to the becm then on to the instrument cluster, so unless your getting low voltage at the becm (the earth point for it is on the floor behind the becm)... best unplug the temp switch and see if the fault still comes up - theoretically it shouldn't.

It'd be worth posting the electrical sticky results up, as well as checking the voltage between the becm earth and positives.
