P38 and disco 2 rear bar

Bit of a long shot but I'm assuming a rear bar for a disco 2 wouldn't fit on a p38 with minor mods? The front of the chassis rails are the same width and just requires minor mods to the brackets to mount and align with wheel arches, but not sure about the rear. I'd be looking at a bar with tubes for the wings so alignment with the rear wheel arch isn't so critical.... I think.

After removing my rear bar on the weekend I think fabrication wouldn't be too hard, but saves a lot of effort if a disco 2 bar would almost fit.

I've been trying to get a rear bar with wheel carrier fabricated by Ben from APT since June last year but he's always too busy with other work, I'm at the stage now where I just don't think it's going to happen so I need to find another option.

Moving to 265/75R16 BFG KM2's has been great for off road driving but there's no way the spare will fit in the the space from the original so we have to carry it in the back and it's even too big to go at one side as it stops the upper tailgate from shutting.

Anyway, I'd also be interested to know what options are available for fitting parts that are made for other vehicles.

Outback Accessories in WA (company who make the Xrox front bar on my p38) plan to make a rear bar.... Eventually. Intheozone was meant to go see them to be the prototype but he hasn't reported back. Thinking that's a long waiting game there as well.

My rear bar at the moment is just the metal skeleton with the plastic and side wings removed. Modified it a little on some rock steps and then caught it on a tree. So the plastic bits and side wings never went back on when I put the tow bar on a week or so ago.

I'm pretty sure the d2 chassis is narrower at the rear. It would be great if they could be made to fit though.

I was wondering if the MCC rear bar for the D2 with twin pivot arms, could be made to fit. Its a nice looking bar.

    Hi

I saw a P38 with a D2 rear bar and carrier, when I asked the guy he said someone in VIC put it on, buy he couldn't remember who

He said all they had to modify were the side pieces.

I emailed those guys near Bendigo, but they knew nothing about it.

I will definitely be getting one fabricated in Feb!

No I didn't see that one. Not sure how I missed it as it's quite long.

I know there was also another thread that had talk about a rear bar as well but couldn't easily find it... I used the search tool in this forum before posting... honestly

Keep me posted Steve. On the design thoughts, cost and also time frames. Might be interested, although I was likely to go down the C-section design between chassis rails and tube round the sides to match the xrox bar. But I'm not convinced. I'd like a rear swing away arm for the spare quite likely. Was also considering putting it on the roof but not convinced.

Edit: After all Gosford is a shortish drive for me
