These damm things break every now and again, but we come back for more....why??

Most people would walk away from it all but not us.

There is only one other car that did this to me, and just couldn't let it go till the bitter end, and that was my very first car, a Volkswagen Beetle ( dont mention ze war!) and now find my self on the other side of the English channel with the good ol Land Rove!

I recently did the head liner too. I'm not as brave as Peter, but it's not difficult to remove and clean up the shell yourself - thats where most of the cost is.

Suggest you also check out Headliner Repair & Replacement there's ample info on d.i.y. how-to and other options.
I ended up going half way... removed the shell, cleaned it up and paid a trimmer about $150 to refurb the liner as well as the blind for the sunroof. If you go this route, you need to carry the shell on the roof... before and after refurb. It's a good size sail and needs to be evenly secured without fracturing it..there's a fair bit of force on it due to air pressure from slip stream over the roof... drive slower than usual is the message

A quick add to Hoges post. I Did my headliner recently. Took it out, cleaned and prepared. I did the cloth at a Mates so just put the shell back in the car and fixed with just a couple of screws to transport it.
The cloth cost $45 ebay, glue about $10, we used trade 140c high temp glue. I took the sunshade out without touching the sunroof. Also added window tint to sunroof glass, heat insulation to the sunshade and sound insulation rubber to the underside of the roof. Also made sure all water drains were clear,

A word I forgot on the sunroof blind. The material that tends to be in use now is thicker than the original liner, and on my last two rangies it has made the sunroof blind hard to open and close.

The old saggy material (once the majority of the foam is scrapped off) washes up extremely well. So assuming you can get a colour match with the new fabric, you can cut out a sunroof blind shape from the old liner, and glue it onto the plastic sunroof blind. I used the 3m glue and it come up a treat.
