Whereabouts in Sydney are you?
I have a few spares here & a brand new radiator that you're welcome to temporarily use if it helps get to the bottom of the problem.
I also think having a 2nd hand radiator 'reconditioned' is a bit odd for a workshop like Davis' to do. A new genuine radiator would be my preferred option, or at least a new Chinese one which are less than $200 these days.
Just my opinion though, I'm sure Bruce & the team know what they're doing.

DPL have a good reputation, and I trust they'll do right by me.
I understand doing things myself would be considerably cheaper, and while I understand the theory of the cooling system, I wouldn't have the vaguest idea of what I'd be doing.
TheTree - Might be time for a new water pump, then. Wouldn't hurt to get a new one.

Striker I live near castle hill not far from you, I am by no means a mechanic but if after the next visit to your mechanic you have no joy I would only be too happy to come around and have a look......I replaced the cooling system in mine myself, with forums help....could help you check the basics.

I note the people on facebook are going for the most expensive and major issue
I am pretty sure that DPL would not have sold you a car with a cracked head or block.
What I did was to take my car to a local mechanic who charged my $20.00 to test for the presence of exhaust in the coolant
So I suggest one step at a time and the fact it overheats more when you are idling suggests a water pump

Ask Bruce to do it while the car's there. If anyone in Sydney is going to have a sniffer, it'll be one of the biggest LR workshops in NSW.Quote:

Great news!
Bruce phoned this morning, and said that he'd plugged his computer in to the car. (He told me what it was, could have been a nanocom, but I'm pretty out of it with a cold/flu, and I don't remember).
When the gauge was reading three-quarters, the actual water temperature turned out to be only 70 degrees. The temperature sensor was faulty, and has been replaced.

Hope that's the answer. Great result. Get yourself a Bluetooth obd2 dongle thingy. Along with the torque pro app, and watch that temp like a hawk, at least until you know it's sound.
