    Getting rid of the HEVAC

Any one done this or got thoughts on replacing the disaster blend motors with the analog unit?
The analog unit has three knobs like the Discovery so I am assuming the blend motors can be binned and replaced by mechanical cables

The "Note Book" evil little symbol comes up on mine occasionally when cold and goes away later after the next enging start up. I suspect this may be low gas pressure, but I have replaced blend motors four times now over a similar number of years. Blend motors have always been indicated when checked with the LandRover computer plugged in.

    Thanks in advance

Moodyblue, I believe some of the early poverty pack diesels in the uk came out with manual HEVAC. a trawl through some of the uk sites might reveal what is required.

Whew! I thought, from the thread title, you were dumping the HEVAC altogether.

Have same issue of occasional appearance of symbol. Well mainly occasional non-appearance. Faultmate throws up all sorts of blend motor failures including potentiometer. Then on cold days (below 16 or 17 deg C) all is well with the world...no symbol sign. Am certain the issue is a warped heater plenum causing the flap to sieze.probably needs less than a mm removed to free it up... you might have same problem.

I also have HEVAC dramas. in summer time i get no aircond at all and in winter time i get it for 5 mins sometimes and then i get the book symbol and it stops. The heater side of it seams to work ok. I too assume its low gas and yet to check but thought if it was too low it would not occasionally work. I have thought of getting the dial type controller from a uk car and just swapping it out. I was told once before you just plug it in the same way as HEVAC, you just have to move the dials yourself. Also ther is a pop out for the A/C switch. I found it hard to get a straight answer regarding this, would love to find out.

I know some people have disassembled the airbox and shaved the flaps a little to stop them binding, but that sounds like a massive job !

Some have also suggested Inox may help

You can access the flap itself once the pollen filter housing is removed.

You can't actually remove the flap this way but at least you can have a squiz & possibly see what's causing the noise.

I wish I'd done it when I had my dash out.
