P38 Thor Fuel Gauge Sender Unit Repair

My fuel gauge stopped working some time ago. Decided to have a look and what I found was one of the contacts on the sender had a bad connection and was not firmly in place, in fact it could be turned easily with a pair of pliers. I rotated the connection several times with the pliers to gain a better connection and then gently punched it firmly into place.

    Gauge is now working fine.

Used a multi-tool to cut the floor and done in five minutes. (the fuel lines/cables sat at least 1cm below the bottom of the floor so no problems with damaging them in mine.

Nice work, I had a similar issue resolved just by cleaning the track however I never considered the connectivity of that joint so a good bit of info.
Did you change the fuel pump, a cheap generic one will fit, get one ready for next time if you have not changed it yet.

Hi Wayne I didn't replace the fuel pump but that is a concern, didn't realise it could be replaced with a generic pump, any recommendations for a generic replacement pump?

Have a read of the below thread. Pay attention to the R10 hose.
Thor Fuel pump renew. Fuel filter Renew. Fuel level sender clean

You will not find a cheaper pump than this, it should be an exact fit into the fuel filter as its a Bosch 38mm clone
