Decided to do something a little different with the Fantom, seeing as I don't carry passengers around much these days I've decided to remove back seats & reconfigure my camping / sleeping arrangements.
So I removed my drawer/fridge system & designed a new setup which takes advantage of the extra space.
So basically the fridge & drawers will now reside on passenger side leaving the drivers side free for my mattress etc.
I'm at carcass stage but it is all looking like it's going to be just the ticket.
Means I dont have to take tent if I go alone, also gives plenty of storage space. The fridge will now slide out of rear passenger door and drawers still out of rear door!
Here is a couple of shots of rear drawer component under construction.

Any plans for the rear footwell now it's not needed? Water tank? Cargo barrier behind the front seats? Looking good. Always good to strip some weight out hey.

I thought about just removing the 2/3 rear seat at one time, leaving two passenger seats.

Looking good! Will watch with much interest...Do you have sufficient room to sleep inside the vehicle with the driver's seat fully forward or do you leave the lower tailgate open....?

Edit: while the P38 doesn't have the utility of a Deefer for adding stuff to the outside... that still doesn't stop me considering attaching some dicreet brackets to accommodate a side table etc just got to work out where....
l have converted the wheel well cover to accept the 4 LR legs and "official" LR table cloth and convert to a proper Rangie picnic table... but it means removing it from the boot space... and there's always more than a simple picnic basket stacked on top :-) which makes the exercise sort of pointless...

I have been thinking about a drop down table off the rear tyre carrier that will meet the rear lower tailgate and make a "L" shaped kitchen. That was my original idea when i made the tyre carrier in one piece and swung it out to the right, it would then leave straight access to the tail gate and fridge which i had planned to put on a slide on the rear left of the car. I like the idea of removing the rear seats maybe a false floor so it is even through to the back. Then hidey holes under the false floor where the foot well is for spare battery, bottles of red wine or tools.
Why won't the spell check accept tyre that is the correct spelling just like colour i hate American English. that's a misnomer

Try installing a UK / Australian dictionary and make sure your computer is set up to Australian not US as a language

I thought briefly about putting one of those flexible water blasts in the footwell as the kids are all young. Then got to thinking what would happen if it burst. ..

    Hi Sean,
That wheel well - Well my thinking is to remove standard wheel well lid & make a new 2 piece job that splits exactly where my drawers finish, this will give me full access to wheel well space from below my mattress which is easy to lift of course, making that space completely usable! will probably make a drop in insert with compartments for various bits, most probably key spares. As it is a round space was thinking of making insert like a carousel so I can spin it around giving access to all compartments easily! Would welcome any other suggestions though.
However I seem to have water ingress into well currently so I need to fully sort that out first,m I have read previously that sunroof drains can block and cause this issue but was wondering if anyone else has found any other causes for this so I can try to eliminate all possibilities.

Isn't the carousel also called a lazy Susan? .

Another spot of water ingress is from the top of the rear window. There seems to be a few in the UK with the problem. The rear drains are easy enough to check on the sunroof once you have the side panels off on the inside of the car. On mine the drain hoses were not even clamped into the rubber drain valves, so if the valve had got blocked the water would have certainly built up pretty quickly in the wheel well.

Martin - great thinking regarding the carousel. I had been thinking about getting a sliding door (ala kitchen/file cabinets) in place of the spare wheel well cover - something like what you get on these:

Steel Full-welded 10mm Thin Edge Bending Roller Sliding Door Cabinet 900~1200mm Height Size - Buy Rolling Door Cabinet,File Cabinet,Tambour Door Cabinet Product on Alibaba.com

But that might be too extravagant.

I have the spare wheel well space occupied by spares and tools - but they're just thrown in there. My rear draw has a removable section so the sub-floor space can be accessed. Most of the time, I rely on tyre gunk and a repair kit - rather than carry the spare. The swing away arm is only fitted for longer trips.

The spare wheel space is still earmarked for an LPG tank in my mind (which I have in storage). Not got around to that yet - I have my reservations.

In the space where the jack etc used to reside, I have installed a 2nd 60AH deep cycle battery (180AH in total, separate from the cranking battery) and a compressor.

I was refering to the passenger footwell in my earlier post - useful space now that your rear seats are removed. But the conversation about the spare wheel well is worthy of exploring as well.

A caroursel - I like that. For dim sums - like a lazy susan.
