Welcome to the madness mate !
Sounds like a proper beast except for the coils
Steve
G'day folks, firstly, I'd like to thank the owners, mods and members of this great site.
I recently joined this fantastic site after purchasing a '95 P38a HSE 4.6.
This forum is brilliant and the wealth of info is astounding as well as super helpful!
I'm an old Landy enthusiast, previous beasts are:
'78 Ser III 109 2.25 petty (I owned this old girl when I lived in Broome [99-06] and she showed up plenty of $80k plus fourbies...tho half the time it's the wood duck owners
'93 Disco, 3.5, 5sp, 3 door.
'96 Disco, 3.9, auto, 5 door.
'98 Disco, 3.9, auto, 5 door...she was my pride and joy..LPG, RPI Dual timing amp, Magnecor HT leads, 2" Dobinsons coils, 265/75/16 Kelly Safari tyres, front comp bar with 12000lb winch, Detroit Trutrac in the rear (awesome) etc, etc, and then a lovely lady decided to drive straight through a stop sign and wipe out the front, bending both chassis rails, which is a mandatory non-repairable wright off...
And sooo...due to some financial issues, I found myself purchasing a '95 HSE with more oil leaks then my old Ser III, a buggered radiator, buggered tyres,
coil conversion, peeling clear coat etc etc, for the princely sum of $3500...yes, I know..I got ripped off...
And now I love this (nearly) 20 year old piece of British engineering even more than my previous Discos. The higher torque and power of the 4.6 is great, especially when towing, and the cabin comforts speak for themselves!
So far I have done:
New radiator, water pump and thermostat.
Sold the 18" Huricanes and fitted 16" Disco 2 alloys with 265/75/16 M/T's.
Changed all drivetrain fluids plus rear diff pinion seal.
Fitted Gen 3, 4 hole fuel injectors, sweet upgrade, got the Ford Mustang 5.0 injectors from USA, second hand, fully recon' and flow tested for about $115 Au.
Converted A/C to Hychill, works great, chills better than most cars I've ever owned.
Fitted manual override switch for thermo fans, so at the flick of a switch both thermos come on at high speed - I usually flick em on whenever I go off-road in warmer temps..ie:summer.
She still had EAS compressor (brand new in 2011... Sweet), valve block etc, after the coil conversion, so I removed the valve block and sensors, fitted a Jamec quick release air fitting (female), piggy backed a cabin switch to operate the compressor at a flick of a switch, and now I have 150 psi air supply for tyre inflation etc. The air tank holds about the required volume of air to pump my 4 tyres from 18 psi to 28 psi, which is perfect to go from gnarly trails or sand, to the blacktop...a larger air tank or possibly piggy backing a second P38 air tank would be a great upgrade.
Well, that's about all I can think of at present. Once again, a huge "thank you" to the site owners, mods, and all you great contributors, the wealth of info is astounding!
Happy Rovering you lot!!
Timmy.

Hi mate,
Welcome to the madhouse, we are all suffering from the same condition here, and loving it.
Sounds like you've already had a chance to get to know your p38, look after her and she will serve you well .
Pictures please!
Thanks for the warm welcome guys.
Yeah, I know Steve, would've been nice to have the EAS, but the PO had already done the coil conversion..what can you do??
Sorry for not posting any pics last night, I'll get onto that right now!

This is shortly after I bought her, still has the 18" Hurricanes.

This is after I fitted the Disco 2 16" alloys, sprayed satin black, crappy second hand tyres at this stage though...
I'm afraid I can only attach and post 1 pic at a time, Internet is sooo slow today!

Got the muddies on now (265/75/16 Nexen M/T..very happy with them so far).
Lucky for the guy in the Patrol I happened to be there having a play that day!
