    Drinking Fuel

Hi all it has been a while. I've been playing with my new toy. A new caravan.
The tub tows like a dream and the service station owners rub their hands together when they see me. Last trip I got 30L - 100km. without the caravan I'm getting 14L-100km. Will a tune up help or should I just enjoy the ride?

That sounds about what my Dad used to get towing his big tandem axle van with either his 4.0 or 4.6 P38s. In comparison his TDV6 Sport towing a similar van uses under 20l/100km.

Are you towing in 3rd or drive? Might be revving too low in top cog and labouring the motor.

Also, are all the tyre pressures right?

I returned high 18's/100km in mine when towing 4t, so 30 is very high.

    Cheers

Towing in drive. But as you can see I'm towing a brick.Do you think a wind deflector would help.

Perhaps! More caravaners here might give some insight. If you get the chance to tow in 3rd, give it a try and see how you go. That's the only advice I can offer!

    3thousand revs Vs 2400,,
at 100 kays the RR is bloody close to peak torque.
I get 3.5 kays per litre on gas towing 2T

4L? 4.6? tired? fresh? Thor? the other one?

I only had a small van 1.5 tonne but I found it much easier in sport mode on the gearbox helps it keep the revs up on the hills, might be worth a try.
