Thumbs down Lights & wiper insanity

    Hi all,

Really need some help here with my P38.

I think there is an issue with the BCM.

When it feels like it the car flashes the headlights, high beam, fogs, and wipers move randomly. The headlight switch does nothing and the low beam is on all the time when the ignition is on. High beam, fogs front and rear do not respond the switch input and the wipers don't return to the base when used.....

I have checked and cleaned all the wires on the BCM under the seat. I can't see any issues with it.

    Any ideas?

+1 for fusebox, and be aware there were changes over the years, so check any replacement against your VIN

Start with the electrical sticky on rangerovers.net in the p38 forum and then move on to the fuse box after that. I've had problems like yours which were caused by a battery being weakened by bad grounds and a bad positive cable. Fixing that and charging the battery fixed be problem.

Follow the advice of the diagnostic process before you throw parts at it. This is common stuff for a p38 and the proceess is methodical tried and true.
