Transfer Case to 6L80 (Holden LS Engines)

Thought some might be interested in this....

Making adapters to fit 6L80 automatic (6 speed) to P38 Borg Warner transfer case.

Means an easy way to then fit a Holden V8.

Original ZF auto is 715mm long.
Depending on a few things, this setup will put a 6L80 length anywhere between 665mm to 760mm long.

The input gear on the transfer case is resplined to fit directly on the 6L80

Now in the process of casting and machining aluminium housing for this.

(I'm actually putting this 6L80 to an Isuzu 4BD1 to go in my P38)

If only our vehicles had the LT230. It would be a piece of cake to do this.

Nice work too by the way Sheldon.

    I'm also adapting the LT230.

The P38 borg warner is actually easier....

Very interested in your work there SheldonA ...... Gen III is sitting in garage awaiting the time and $$$ to slip it into my P38. Was going the way of adapting to ZF but if this is a flyer and the hard work has been or is being done then let me know if I can help. I have access to mill/ally welding etc. located in Melb north west. Keep me posted.

I wonder if that would make it possible to fit a 6L80 to the 4.0/4.6 then?

I think a 6 speed auto behind these motors would be fantastic!

    Cheers

    Same here with the lt230.

I'm sure an adapter could be made up, but there's also oiling to sort out.

Sent from my SM-G900I using AULRO mobile app

You would have to rotate the LT230 180* to make it fit a P38.

Make sure you post some pics too please Sheldon

    Update;

Got the input gear back in the transfer case and trimmed the threaded section of the output shaft of the 6L80. All mated up nicely
