    valet key blank

    Hello people,

Just wondering if anyone knows where to get a key blank for the p38, I don't need the flip key or anything, the factory remote gave up years ago and I put one of those cheap generic systems from repco in, just one actuator in the driver's door to trip the central locking, works a treat but I don't really need to carry around the box and flip key arrangement if I can get just a normal key.

I have found a place that will cut the key if I can find a blank so far it's been a fruitless search, any ideas or suggestions for other vehicles with the same blank would be very much appreciated.

You mean like my key at left? I took my folding one to the Mister Minit at the local shopping centre and he just measured it up and as they are a bit different (of coarse its a P38 ) he ordered in some blanks and cut them. Both work a treat. Surprised they can't order in blanks if they cut also.

The local locksmiths actually came up with a computer key cutting code for mine when I took the original key in to get a copy. Once you know the computer code you don't even need an original for them to cut another

Thanks people, think I might have to ask a different key cutting mob, the one I asked told me that if I got a blank they could cut it for me.

Might be a trip to Mr minit coming up

    A question for the gurus.

If a valet key lock/unlocks the doors and starts the car without the need for a fob? Why then can't valet keys be used all the time as back ups to fob keys?

I've never had a valet key for my car only the 2 fobs.

They weren't called valet keys with the P38, just 'emergency' keys which need is where Emergency Key Access (EKA) comes from.

Generally valet keys enable the car to be unlocked & driven but can't open the glovebox (or boot sometimes).
