I heard something about a massive solar event brewing....
In three and a half years of p38 ownership one of the few things I could always rely on was the book symbol on the hevac display, it's a steady constant in my life.
Two days ago the symbol failed to appear on the drive to work, yesterday it was still missing so I thought I'd stick it on auto, that will get things back to normal, today it's still working perfectly,
My question is this,
How bad is the payback going to be for this, or has anyone else noticed the laws of physics breaking down, is this the end of the world, or even the universe?

I second gary The unit probably not had to move.
Else, you divided by zero mate! End of the world as we know it and such things...
I usually just have it set to low, I'm a pom in Qld so it's rarely cool, but I've got it set at 20 degrees on auto , I've had 9 degree 4.30am starts and 27 sitting in the sun and it's just working.
I'm waiting for the engine to fall out of the bottom or something as payback.
Could someone spirited off roading have just rattled a stuck flap loose?

Well, never say never mr. bond
Flaps are usually stuck due to dirt accumulating. Though not impossible to be shaken loose it does seem highly unlikely since there is a rubber seal of sorts and the dirt gets stuck between the seal and the housing. What could've happened is that a worn out servo got a kick in the arse and has skipped over a bad part of the pot or dirt in the pot has been wiped off now that it has moved a few times. Mine worked for a little under 6 months before it played up again.
Anyway, I reckon you'd rather have a broken servo then your engine falling out! so count your blessings and, not to rain on your parade, don't expect it to last

Perhaps the check-book LCD's have been on so long they decided to call it quits ;-)
