I seem to remember finding some good procedures on rr.net. I also upgraded to the D2 controller
Most likely cause is the hoses though as Ron has said

I just fixed the cruise on my Classic soft dash which is pretty much the same as the P38.
I found 2 problems:
1. The rubber tubes where split
2. The brake peddel switch clips had broken and sort of fell off the mount.
I also fixed up my Brother in Laws P38 which was only the split rubber tubes.
@thetree what's that about a D2 controller? I have replaced my unit under the dash once already but it seems to be broken AGAIN. I was already contemplating fitting a aftermarket cruise control since this system is unreliable, unnecessarily complex and uses a vacuum pump that can wear out and is not serviceable.

Hi Mate
There are a few references to this if you google "p38 cruise control D2 update" but here is one to start with, it's the later D2 / P38 controller

Have you looked at the RR with a nanocom ,?
That's an excellent idea! use the bosch unit. I still have a bosch wrecker in the backyard, I see a rainy sunday afternoon job coming up. Thanks for the tip!

For those who care to know: yesterday I took the cc unit out of the wrecker I have in the backyard and spliced the plug onto my car. I have been putting this of for a long time since I seriously dislike cutting into factory wiring looms but since I'll be going on a long trip tomorrow... I am happy to report that the job is extremely easy and what's more, it works!
So, using a D2 or bosch P38 cc unit seems to be the way to go, and seriously simple.
Thanks!
