My first suggestion, if you haven't already
get yourself a diagnostic tool
I have a nanocom, group guy on at the moment
cheers

Hi all,
finally got myself a p38 4.6 hse after wanting any Range Rover since I was 15 and now I’m 50 😀
it’s a 97, done 245000kms and has the coil spring conversion done.
As expected....it has a few issues lol.
so I hope you don’t mind if I pick your brains and experience.
first...I turn on the ignition, srs fault is on the display and down behind the far right of the dash something is clicking for a while and the message doesn’t go away.
When I brake the handbrake, tc and abs lights flash on for a second.
The cruises control doesn’t work, light on the switch comes on but that’s it.
and when I got home after my driveway ( very steep ) some coolant was coming out of the top up tank hose.
when I turn on the right indicator ther is a beep and after three normal speed ticks they get a lot quicker ( like a bulb gone)
any help would be much appreciated.
I finally got one!! Woohoo 😁
cheers all
Gaz

Thanks blaze 👍
i bought this cheap and can,t throw money at it sadly. I’m trying to fix these issues myself and as cheaply as possible 😀
so any tips would be much appreciated thanks. I figure these are common issues.
also the climate controls don’t work...but I get cold air like the ac is on...just no fans, temp or vent adjustment.
if it looks like it’s going to be lots of $$$ to sort out I may just have to sell the old girl on
cheers 🍻
Welcome to the madness mate
It seems you have a few issues, but the coolant loss could be the biggest one. If it keeps doing it, try getting the coolant tested for exhaust gases.
Cruise control is likely to be perished hoses
Any other messages on the dash?
Good luck !
Steve
Hi Steve,
thanks for the reply mate. Yes it could be madness and may still sell it on.
the only dash message is the srs fault and it stays on all the time.
i drove her home yesterday over 200 kms with a couple of stops and no coolant loss.
It was only after going up my 400metre steep driveway that it escaped.
really hoping it’s not head gasket.
it might be for sale
cheers

Sounds like it may be nothing with the coolant loss
The SRS light is most likey a connector somewhere
If there is anyone near you with a nanocom, then hooking it would be a good thing !
Steve
Hi Steve,
thanks again mate. Yes I am hoping the coolant was nothing and just the driveway. I have access to a gas tester so will check it tomorrow.
any tips on which connectors I need to check for the warning?
i only paid 2400 for the old girl so pretty cheap. I just need to get it through a nsw blue slip as it’s got qld rego 😕
not sure if it will get through with no climate control and the warning etc.
time will tell.
thanks again
Gaz 😀
Hmmm. No EAS. Why did you want a P38A missing one of the things that make them such a great car?

Lol yes I know but this old girl was cheap and I know the eas is expensive to fix. To be honest after driving it home yesterday the ride is excellent and she handles very well for such a heavy car. Just one less thing I’ll have to fix but I know it would have been nice if it was still on air and working.
cheers
Gaz 😀
As far as he HEVAC goes, check RL6 and RL7 in the fusebox for signs of heat discolouration that is a common issue
