Pete, my 2000 does not switch lights off when the ignition is turned off however it does display a message with an audible "beep".
I have a 2000 VIN-WA P38 Bosch EMS.
For those with this version - do your headlights automatically turnoff when locking the vehicle to protect against flat battery.? Mine does not and was it ever a function for this vehicle?
Also the manual states that there should be an audible warning and a “ lights on” meassage when engine is turned off and keys removed.
I dont appear to have either of these options operating. Ive checked the description of BeCM options from Blackbox solutions but there appears to be no reprograming or checking of these options when accessing the BeCM via Nanocom
Do others on this forum have either of these options,
Thanks

Thanks for that. I need to fit a warning as I tend to leave before first light and pull up in daylight - and have left the lights on.
There is a technique to getting in when the battery is flat.
EKA doesnt work to re mobilise the engine.
You can manually unlock the front door - remote will not communicate with the BeCM as the voltage is too low - and anyway there is not enough voltage to cycle the door actuators.
You rear upper door only just opens to allow you access to any jumper leads.
Pop the bonnet as per usual - the alarm will not go off - on mine anyway.
Connect the doner vehicle - now close all doors and relock the car via the remote. Cycle the remote to re immobise the engine - flashing LED stops.
You need a car with a decent battery - old mate who graciously helped me with his 80,s Camry would not even operate the starter circuit when at idle. With the RPM up at about 3000 I got a weak start on the 4th try and after rotating the jump leads into the battery posts.
Anyway hope someone can use this info.
For the moderator - we could make this a a stcky - with other input/relevant info to this situation. This may help others caught in the same situation

It may not help you, but I’ve enabled daytime running lights on mine using the Nanocom. This turns the headlights on when the engine is running, and turns them off when the engine is turned off. This does not turn the dash lights on though, just headlights, tail lights and number plate lights.
If I manually turn them on (at night for example), I do get the message if I’ve left them on when I turn the ignition off.
Cheers

Peter, I have a 2001 Thor P38, the normal behavior for mine is if the headlights are on when I take the key out, I get a single beep and a 'headlight delay' message.
The headlights stay on for about 20 seconds and then turn off automatically.
So it is the removal of the key from the ignition that triggers the headlight delay, rather than locking the doors.
You would think the 2000 would be the same as the 2001 model.
I wonder if a previous owner has disabled that function on yours somehow.
Did you actually hook up the nanocom to check headlight settings?
Thanks everyone.
I have now enabled day time running lights.
That should solve my problem - I checked that I also get the headlight on beep - must must have missed it the other day in my haste.
