Height sensor rubber bushing on radius arm; replacement?

"For some reason I cannot start any new threads or reply to my own threads until a moderator approves it? Is this a new thing? Ive never experienced a forum(rangerovers.net) that makes it so frustrating to participate. I gotta say that I am increasingly unhappy when I need to come to this(rangerovers.net) forum vs any other forums that I frequent."

So Ive come the great and wise aulro forum and Iam probably here to stay...

Just to update you all on whats been going on.. I have been rebuilding my EAS from the coil suspension that I bought it with. So in the last couple weeks the coils have come out. The airbags have been put in. The valve block, drier, and compressor have been rebuilt. Brass tees with brass olives have been added in, as an emergency inflation system. Brass schraders valves finish it off. System has been leak free for over a week, running it as manual air suspension(even managed to work in a little light off road testing). Cleaned all the connectors with QD cleaner. Located the method of "eas manual" and am ready to return it to factory EAS. The last thing to do is to connect the height sensors to the vehicle and calibrate it.

The only issue I am having is that the height sensor's lower rubber bushing mount has split. The specific location is the right rear radius arm hard rubber bushing. It is the bushing that the lower arm of the height sensor attaches to the suspension. Has anyone had this issue? Ive done a quick search and haven't been able to source a replacement or even a diagram indicating that it can be had separately of the radius arm.

I am really hoping itll be an easy fix. Thanks in advance!

    Hi and welcome

I once had one of those break and we glued it back on with a SuperGlue since it was a clean break

Sadly i don't think those rubbers are replaceable, though others may know more.

It may be that you need to get a second hand radius arm

a secondhand arm would probably be the quickest and simplest fix but if you want to fix the current one; I have used a rubber block from another application and glued it on with window sealant (the black stuff for cars). The resulting weld was stronger than the rubber in the end so that might be worth a try.

The location of the arm is not very critical, you need to check the full articulation to see if you do not hit or sheer the sensor but other than that you can be out a few mm from the original location without any problem, the calibration will take care of the rest.

    Cheers,

Like Steve, i superglued the rubber lug back on. There is no replacement available in this modern world anywhere, not that i could find anyway! You could fabricate one by cutting out a block of rubber to the same shape and glue it into place.

Oh welcome to the forum by the way

Can you glue it back together with Gorilla Glue?

Some years back I made some similar bushes using two-part urethane from Devcon. Made a mould and cast the urethane. I think it was Flexane. One can get it in different durometers.

I used to be an Administrator on RangeRover.net and that was introduced for new members owing to the very large number of spammers joining the site. I rarely visit the site anymore after being told by a Mod that I was no longer welcome there. I note I'm still shown as a "Founding Member" I see a lot of the tech articles I wrote are no longer there.

I'm a Moderator on another forum operated by the same mob that now owns RRNET and we get the occasional moderated post. I look at them, if they look good (one gets a instinct after a while), I approve them immediately.
