Test Pressure Switch
Hey guys,
Recently took the plunge on a 2000 p38 4.0 SE. It's mostly working fine but every couple of weeks I get a random 'soft' fault of the EAS (all lights go on, but don't get speed warning). I've plugged it into my nanocom and am getting the "pressure switch not changing stat: always on" error. There doesn't seem to be anything to suggest that the system is losing pressure and when everything is working responds to inputs and it doesn't sound like the compressor is constantly running when driving around.
I've done a bit of digging and the consensus seems to be that the error is symptomatic of a failing driver pack. Before I try changing that, I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a way to test the pressure switch just so I can comfortably rule that out.
If anyone has any suggestions of other things I should be looking at to help diagnose the problem, please let me know.
Cheers

When I had a P38 I. I put a small air gauge in the car just near my left knee and I could monitor the air system. I think I "T" a fitting between the filter and the valve block and that gave me "compressor on" readings. Around 150 psi then it would cycle.

If the system runs for too long it may throw that error, does not need to be running all the time.
The pressure switch can be checked manually iirc. Yup, even found you a video YouTube
Cheers,

P38 EAS pressure sensor error.
If not cured already. This is a common issue with old p38's including mine for several years. I did the typical replace pressure switch, relays, overhauled valve block etc to no avail. The cure is to replace the valve block driver. Suggest a brand new one, (over$700 Oz) as second hand units might have the same issue?
