    Prop shaft

I went four-wheel driving in beautiful East Gippsland on the weekend and I did a front prop shaft .mainly the universal joint at the rear .I'm going to replace the whole prop shaft and the 2 uni joints and at acost of $460.
Does that sound expensive to you guys.

I got myself uprated units front and rear for less money:

TOM WOODS P38 FRONT DOUBLE CARDAN DRIVE SHAFT – Lucky8 Off Road

Sure, shipping costs money and may take a while but they are far more sturdy than the standard unit.

The double cardan setup is an excellent choice. A single UJ is always compromised the moment it is not operating in a straight line (single plane...that's why a CV joint is so effective). Apart from extra strength, the Tom Woods setup overcomes the single UJ limitations and should remove the pesky vibrations which invariably occur when varying EAS heights are employed especially on the highway at cruising speeds.... (I wish I'd done the conversion !)

Hoges mate, you are absolutely right

I have lifted my P38 about inches and the standard highway height has effectively become the high height for the prop shafts. I went through 2 UJ in the front in about 2 years time I think. I got the tom woods ones and never looked back. Well, I grease them every 5k of course but other than that...

    Cheers,
