I asked the question about recovery points at an RR club meeting in Sydney. One of the instructors advised the tow point at the front is Ok for recoveries - which did surprise me.
Hi all, I am getting ready for the Toyota Fishing Classic on Fraser in May and figure I'll be needing some recovery points to pull out all my mates not driving Land Rovers. LOL.
On the back recovery point in my Disco and RRC I removed the tongue from the Hayman Reese towbar and used the pin. Planning on doing the same with the P38 but does anyone know if they have used high tensile bolts to attach the towbar to the frame or do I need to replace the existing with High Tensile ?
On the front the frame is graduated in strength to allow for crumple. Does anyone know how far back on the frame I need to go to attach the recovery hooks so as to clear the crumple zones ?
Cheers, Steve.

Hi Ron,
I did do training with the RRC in Sydney back in 2003. Different instructors then and an RRC rather than the P38. The courses where great and any instructors from RRC Sydney have automatic credibility. Still, I am a little worried about using the standard front tow point for snatching (some of those stuck Toyota's and Nissan's are going to be big and heavy LOL).
Cheers, Steve.
