Well, the P38A's are selling wholesale for about 6% of their new price. Tidy 8-9 year old Commodores and Falcons go through auctions for $4000-$5000, Falcons usually less than similar Commodores. Expressed as a percentage of new price the family sedans are doing a lot better. For savage depreciation, Magnas hold the current title. Tidy 8-9 year old Magnas and derivatives fetch usually in the vicinity of $1000-$1500. Hyundai, Kia, Daewoo over 6-7 years old are virtually worthless, fetching scrap or wrecking prices as one would expect for cars selling new for $15000. Odd bods like Renault, Fiat, Citroen are usually purchased by fanatics, or specialist dealers/wreckers.
I think your going to be right about that soon too. However as drivesafe said this week at $32K for a new trannie and hard to get them rcond this makes me think that they will be shunned even more than what P38's are, when they get on in age. Not that P38's are that unsaleable, but I reckon these newer rangies will be.
Now I know I am going to get flamed for this for sure...
I was talking about my observations of prices paid at no reserve dealer only auctions. I regularly attend with a wrecker mate who has a dealer licence.
I picked up a 1992 Vogue, 151k on the clock, Dual fuel, imaculate condition other than a damaged door. otherwise Perfect. $1200
Daddy will be happy with his new Rangie
