    dog guard or cage

Can anyone point me in the right direction to get a P38 dog guard/ cage in OZ.

I only found them OS. I would prefer second hand but haven't seen any anywhere. I might have to get one made. i have the top brackets installed already but if anyone has one can you post some pictures of the lower fittings and how they attach at the top. Any dimensions would also be useful.

Thanks for that offer - i was thinking that. Getting it here will probably cost me a bit. I will look around here first but get back to you if i get stuck. I am still interested in how they are mounted if anyone has piccies.

I have the genuine Pet barrier. It mounts only at the top on the special bracket, there are no lower mounting points.

The unit itself is lightweight aluminium and whilst it is very handy for separating the cargo, I only ever use it for soft stuff like sleeping bags and pillows, as I don't believe it has nearly the strength of a proper cargo barrier.

They come up on ebay quite regularly, so watch out there, and you can possibly order one directly from a parts supplier such as a dealer or someone like British4wd (who advertise on here) - I bought the mounting kit from them.

...oh and I can get some pictures for you. If you have the brackets already in place then the hard work is done.

The bar is designed to come in and out easily and just has a simple wing nut type fixer - don't even need tools.

It really is quite flimsy, as I said.

Thought I still had the fitting instructions for the Milford barrier but can't find them at the moment. Will scan and post if I can find them.
ITMT here is a shot of where the upper mounts attach to on the driver side:

It attaches to that black piece of steel just above the green thingy. Can't remember exactly what these are called or exactly where to drill the holes. Perhaps someone else may have the instructions? Or try a search on here for milford barrier instructions. Milford might also e-mail them to you.

This guy in Melbourne will custom make them. The ones I've seen are good quality. Not sure if he has the measurements for your car but suggest you ring him - nice guy, a 4WDER himself ( even if he owns a Nissan ) - ask for Colin

I take it this is what you are talking about

even though its in a D1 the principle is the same its an upturned sigma barrier, with the legs fabricated from half a falcon perspex cargo barrier frame, and those bits were welded on.
the long bits hanging off the top were bolted onto the child safety seat lugs on the roof just above the door( a bit of cutting to make the length right
the bottom brackets were fabricated from the bits left over and bolted down to the tie down bolt holes just behind the seat.

total cost, $15 for all the bits, works a treat,
