    Service warning on climate control

    Hi guys, adding to my earlier coolant leak thread. I've had the service warning icon come up occasionally on the climate control display. It seems to mainly occur when running the car on gas, or when hot outside. Could this be linked to the coolant leak from the heater unit or is it more likely to be the mixer etc? cheers, Ren

    re mixer

    when you are on lpg,as the motor is running is your mixer (converta round thing were hoses go in and out ) cold or hot to touch .if cold (ices up)you have air in system (due to leak leting in air as water leaks out ) or if cold another reason can be blockage in the converta itself .just stick water hose in the rubber heater hose to blow out blockage .thats due to mixing normal coolant with long life coolant it turns in to jelly ,happened to me had to flush compleatly when cold ,not hot so dont damage head gasket or make engine block warp ,cold water and hot motor dont mix.ralph

    Hi Ren - mine used to do that intermittently too, but didn't seem to affect the climate control too much. It was only when the climate control stopped working that I had to get a new blend motor installed. Not an expensive part in itself, but very expensive in labour as most of the dash has to come out.

    Hopefully yours is not the blend motor. Can you get an Autologic, RovaComm or similar OBD scanner on it to read the error code?

    hi guys, thanks for the help, I've got the computer connector but not the software. I have to replace the o-rings soon, as I discovered yesterday, as coolant is leaking into the cab. I will def investigate a blockage, but the gas system itself seems to be running ok, I've got to pull out a fair bit of the dash to do the seals, was wondering if there is any physical way of seeing if blend motor stuffed? btw, Paulp38a, got package ok, cheers :-)

    Just a side note on taking the dash out.

    Make sure you gently remove the pillar covers FIRST. Put them away in a safe place as they are incredibly easy to mark and damage. The furry stuff scrapes off really easy.

    I recently done the 'O' rings and blend motors. The rover.net site has good pics on doing this job. Dash Removal and Replacement (Range Rover 4.0/4.6/p38)

    Why do you need to remove the dash and pillar trims to replace the heater O-rings or blend motors?

    Senrta, the chequebook symbol could be on from a number of reasons. You need to get the logged faults read and cleared. Where do you live? If you are nearby I can read/clear them for you (free). I suggest you update your profile to show your location - it does make it easier for us to help you.

    Hi Ron, thanks for the tip. You've reminded me that I didn't finish filling in my details. Unfortunately I'm in Vic, so not close by. The problem is also sporadic, so I need to wait for it to come up. The problem is that when you power off the ignition, it goes away again, or when its cooler outside. I do know from the other post and rangerover.net that I need to do the 'o' rings, and going by the guide, I've got to remove the instrument panel for best access.
