    P38A airbox 4.0/4.6 or '95/'99?

    riddle me this..

    • before the "river incident" I purchased some spare parts for my 1995 RR 4.6 HSE, including a Bearmach paper air filter element
    • after the "river incident" I sold and gave away lots of surplus P38A bits but not the air filter
    • a 1999 RR 4.0 took up residence where the 4.6 HSE once stood
    • The 4.0 has a K&N filter and I thought I'd give the Bearmach paper air filter a go instead, but it is too big for the air box.

    is it:

    1. 1999 air box is smaller than 1995 air box?
    2. 4.0 air box is smaller than 4.6 air box?
    3. combination of 1 and 2?
    4. I had the wrong air filter element to start with?

    ta, Paul.

The air filter fitted to the 1995 - 1996 & 1998 RR is different from the 1997 for some strange reason. This air filter is ESR341.

The 1999 onwards RR uses the same filter as the 1997 which is ESR4238.

Just to make matters worse, there is a note on the EPC that some late 96 MY RRs might have a 97 MY air filter assy.

    There, clear as mud .

Aswell as the air filter, the pipe which runs to the airflow (and airflow meter too?) are both different. The easiest way yo tell is one filter box has landrover written on the top, and the other doesnt.
