I need new tyres on my 1997 P38 it currently has Michelins 255/65/16. I have done 60000 km on them since I brought the vehicle. Mainly road use but do not want to be limited to just a road thread. Looking at the new Mich they are quoting $480 each. Not so much worried about the price just after a good tyre.
Hi Boa
I've found Cooper ST to be the best compromise that is more biased towards off-road use, but with excellent on-road wear and behaviour, although a bit noiser than standard on-road tyres. Expect to pay around $300 per tyre fitted.
Having said that, I am now running 2 sets of tyres for my P38A:
Yes, I notice a huge difference in handling/noise between the 2 sets of tyres.
- 33" Maxxis Bighorns on 16" rims for off-road play
- Cooper HT Plus on 18" rims for on-road and light off-road use
Have also heard lots of good things about Pirelli Scorpions but never tried them myself.
Do a bit of a search on this site and rangerovers.net and you will find many other opinions.
cheers
Paul.
